Learning objectives

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply guideline-concordant screening and focused evaluation for cancer-related fatigue using quantitative assessment and evaluation of treatable contributors.
  2. Evaluate common reversible contributors to cancer-related fatigue and prioritize targeted management before symptomatic treatment, transitioning to evidence-based exercise and psychosocial care when no reversible cause is identified.
  3. Select evidence-based interventions for cancer-related fatigue by distinguishing strong from weak or insufficient evidence and prioritizing exercise and psychosocial care over routine pharmacotherapy.
  4. Develop an evidence-based exercise recommendation for cancer-related fatigue and appropriately distinguish the role of pharmacologic therapy based on comparative-effectiveness evidence.
  5. Manage persistent cancer-related fatigue through reassessment, evidence-based supportive care including activity pacing, and appropriate referral when symptoms persist despite first-line measures.
