Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply updated age-specific lipid screening recommendations to determine appropriate screening initiation and intervals for children and adults.
  2. Evaluate low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels together with personal and family history to identify patients who warrant further evaluation for familial hypercholesterolemia, including genetic testing when clinically appropriate.
  3. Apply current cascade-screening recommendations to identify which at-risk relatives should undergo lipid screening and when screening should begin.
